It's So Clear. . .You glanced up at me from the bottom step of my porch, your green eyes heavy with doubt and fear. Your memories covered with the incessant blur of drugs you had inhaled before you came to see me. You had to snort down the white powder to be able to do this to me: you were always too fucking scared to hurt my feelings.It's So Clear. . .
It was late fall – a chilly, clear night with the scent of nature's musk encroaching on my nostrils making me feel nostalgic – when you stood on the bottom step, staring up at me as I wrapped my thin, paling arms around your broad shoulders and kissed you gingerly, just as I had so many times before.

At the very beginning it was good, we were happy, the tides were tranquil - but you know what they say about storms and the calm before them. The people around us could hear it coming - the snide remarks and the constant critiques of one another were our own personal form of thunder in the distance. I don't remember which one of us recognized the lightning first, which one of us pointed to the sky as the static electricity exploded into a brilliant, deadly spectacle of white-hot light, but both of us watched as our relationship exposed itself for what it was
